Women’s Euro 2022: an England final

EURO 2022. Beaten at the gates of the final of the Women’s Euro, the France team leaves Germany to face England for the European title.

The step was a little too high. Facing the Germans, the France team lost in the semi-finals of the Women’s Football Euro. For Corinne Deacon, the two days of recovery less can be the cause of this cruel elimination. “We saw some French players a little below their usual level, that’s for sure. We didn’t give up despite everything. It’s sure that if we had had forty-eight more hours, we don’t know. what the match would have been like. We shouldn’t take away from the performance of this German team either, which lived up to its rank. We came up against a great team, powerful, athletic, efficient.”

Place now in the final of the Women’s Euro this Sunday, July 31 at 6 p.m. between England, host country and therefore Germany. Asked after the meeting, Germany coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg is eager to fight. (The final against England) will be a football feast! The English have been incredible, they have scored a lot of goals and have incredible confidence. But the first thirty minutes against Sweden in the semi-finals showed us their Achilles heel, we will try to exploit it on Sunday at Wembley in front of 90,000 fans, mostly English.

In 2017, the Euro took place in the Netherlands where the Dutch locals became European champions. In 2022, the European Championship will take place in England, where the matches will be played in 10 stadiums: Wembley Stadium (London), Bramall Lane (Sheffield), St Mary’s Stadium (Southampton), Falmer Stadium (Brighton), Brentford Community Stadium (Brentford), Leigh Sports Village (Leigh), Old Trafford and Academy Stadium (Manchester), New York Stadium (Rotterham), Stadium MK (Milton Keynes).

Les Bleues aim to do better than in 2017 and an elimination in the quarter-finals against England. If they aim to go as far as possible in the competition, this is also the case for the reigning European champions, the Netherlands led by Lieke Mertens and Vivienne Miedema. Eight-time titled Germany is an outsider like Denmark, finalist in 2017. Spain, with several FC Barcelona players, will have its say like Sweden, second in the FIFA rankings.
