The program of the six weeks of preparation of the Blues before the Euro

In six weeks, the Blues will make their debut in EuroBasket 2022 against Germany. This is why, to better understand the start of the competition, a very busy program awaits Vincent Collet’s players, starting at the end of July. The opportunity for us to come back to the summer of our tricolors, who will very soon be back on the courts.

They only have one week of vacation left. And yes, already. Freed since their crushing victory against Hungary on July 4 in the first qualifying phase for the 2023 World Cup, the French will soon make their comeback in blue to prepare for EuroBasket 2022, which will start on September 1. . Training, friendly matches, trips… so there’s a lot to say about what the French team is going to do in the coming weeks. First of all, the 17 boys summoned by Vincent Collet will meet on July 29 at INSEP, to carry out the protocol medical tests. Officially, the resumption will take place on Sunday July 31, where the players will begin training at the Palais des Sports in Nanterre. There will then follow six big days where the Blues will try to find the rhythm in anticipation of a first meeting, already, against the Netherlands. Friendly match which will take place at the Kindarena in Rouen on August 7 at 5 p.m., this first test will be an opportunity to see where the organizations are, following an extended season for many selected. Behind, the staff will undoubtedly make a first point during a few days of rest, before resuming the festivities. Direction Bologna on Friday August 12, for a new warm-up match against the Italians. Immediate return to France, in Montpellier, for the resumption of training for the return match against Italy at the Sud de France Arena, on August 16 at 8:30 p.m. So, where are we going now? Well, there was no question of leaving Hérault since it was our Belgian friends who would come to oppose the French two days later, at the same time. Note that all these preparation meetings will be broadcast on BeIN Sports.

August 19, 20 and 21 will then be the last opportunity for the players to breathe a little, they who will then have to start the final stretch which will end on… September 18. And yes, no more breaks until the end of the Euro! As of August 22, the band in Vavane resumes training. The next day, a press conference is already planned. Perhaps in order to announce the list of the twelve fellows who will represent us in September. Maybe not. Still, the serious things will really start on August 24 when, at the AccorHotels Arena, the Blues will face the Czech Republic at 8:30 p.m. as part of the second phase of qualifying for the 2023 World Cup. , where the typical team should be revealed in order to test itself a few days before the European Championship. The next day, direction… we don’t really know where. Supposed to face Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday August 27, the French do not know for the moment neither the time, nor the room, nor even the city where they will play. Smart these Bosnians, who know full well that we will find them… ten days later in the group stage of the EuroBasket in Germany. More seriously, this match should not be taken lightly, which will also be the last before the start of the tournament. Because on August 28, our boys will fly to Cologne where they will face from September 1, at the opening of the competition, the host country of the latter: Germany. We therefore all hope that this very intense summer program will allow the French team to arrive in good shape and in the best possible conditions to fetch us a medal, neither bronze nor silver, and even less chocolate.

Phew, we have already seen less busy summers than this one. Aware of the potential fatigue of the players following the long season they have all experienced, the staff of Vincent Collet has done everything to harmonize training, preparation matches (and in particular qualifications) but also rest phases, essential in order to avoid injury or other inconvenience.
