Stade Rennais: arrivals, departures, loans… Update on the transfer window for the Rouge et Noir

The arrivals

It’s official. Steve Mandanda is the new Stade Rennais goalkeeper for the next two seasons. He has signed up with the Rouge et Noir club until 2024.

The Belgian defender Arthur Theate signed his new contract with Stade Rennais. International with the Red Devils, the former central defender of Bologna FC, 22, has signed up until 2026 with the club.

The Welsh defender Joe Rodon joined Stade Rennais for one year after a loan agreement with Tottenham, the club announced on Monday August 1, 2022. The latter specifies that this arrival is accompanied by a Purchase option.

Departures

After two seasons with the Rouge et Noir, the Moroccan central defender Nayef Aguerd left Stade Rennais to join the English side of West Ham, in London. An agreement of 35 million euros (without the bonuses) had been found between the two clubs in June 2022.

At the end of July, the transfer of the young 17-year-old striker Mathys Tel for Bayern Munich has been made official by the two clubs, for an estimated amount of 20 million euros plus 8.5 bonus, after a pro season with the Rouge et Noir.

Recruited in 2019, the striker Metehan Güçlü will never have played a minute in the Stade Rennais jersey. Regularly injured, he was successively loaned to Valenciennes, then to FC Emmen. His final transfer to FC Emmen was formalized in July.

Ready to Middlesbrough last year, the 26-year-old midfielder James Lea-Siliki left Stade Rennais for Estoril, Portugal, after eight years with the Breton club.

The loans

the attacker Junior Kadile was loaned to FC Famalicão with an option to buy, just like the midfielder Andy Diouf with FC Basel.

Loan returns

Two attackers return to Stade Rennais for this new season after being loaned to a different club each last year. This is the case of Matthis Abline who returns from Le Havre AC and Yann Gboho of the Speed ​​SBV.

End of contract

Four players were out of contract with Stade Rennais at the end of last season. The goalkeeper Pepe Bonet is now committed to Red Star FC.

Midfielders Jonas Martin and Jeremy Gelin also leave the club and have signed with LOSC and Amiens SC respectively. As for the striker Franck Rivollierhe has been without a club since the end of the season.

Contract extensions

Since the end of the 2021/2022 season, three contract extensions have been formalized. These are midfielders Flavian Tait and Lesley Ugochukwu which extends their adventure at Stade Rennais for one and two seasons respectively.

Finally, the head coach of the Rouge et Noir Bruno Genesio He is also continuing his adventure at Roazhon Park with a contract extension for the next two years.

In addition, the club also announced the signing of the first professional contract since the end of the season with Elias Damergy for a season.

  • Goalkeepers: Steve Mandanda, Alfred Gomis, Romain Salin, Dogan Alemdar, Elias Damergy.
  • The defenders : Birgir Meling, Loïc Badé, Hamari Traoré, Arthur Theate, Joe Rodon, Lorenz Assignon, Adrien Truffert, Warmed Omari.
  • Midfielders: Lovro Majer, Baptiste Santamaria, Benjamin Bourigeaud, Flavien Tait, Lesley Ugochukwu.
  • The attackers: Gaëtan Laborde, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Jérémy Doku, Sherou Guirassy, ​​Martin Terrier, Matthis Abline, Yann Gboho.
