La Liga regains its rights. After an international break marked by the first qualifying matches for Euro 2020 and the last deadlines to validate the last places for CAN 2019, the Spanish championship is back. Several enticing matches are on the bill for this 29th day of La Liga, in particular the Barcelona derby between Barça and Espanyol, but also Sevilla – Valencia or an electric Cela Vigo – Villarreal.

Girona-Athletic Bilbao: 1-2
Certainly one of the big hits of the evening for the Basques. Led by the Catalans at half-time, the Atlético players were able to regroup in the second half. By scoring two goals in six minutes (Williams, 53′ and Garcia, 59′), Bilbao was able to provide more than the essentials to Girona. What to come back to a few points of the sixth place, qualifying for the Europa League.
Getafe – Leganes: 0-2
Getafe, one of the great surprises of this season in Spain is surprised at home by the modest team of Leganés. After having found the opening by Santos, Juanfran came to double the bet at the end of the meeting to definitively put an end to the hopes of the locals. A defeat that could benefit the pursuers Alaves, Sevilla FC or Valencia.

Barça – Espanyol Barcelona: 2-0
Victory took a long time to emerge, but fortunately for Barça, Lionel Messi is there. Already author of a sumptuous gesture in the first period, the Argentinian scored twice at Camp Nou. First on a free kick, badly repelled by defender Victor Sanchez (71′), then the second after a very good pass from the former Bordeaux player Malcom. Three new points, which further consolidate the Blaugrana in their first place. For its part, Espanyol remains in the soft underbelly of the championship.
Celta Vigo-Villarreal: 3-2
A rebounding match in the east of Spain. Put in difficulty throughout the first period, the locals cracked twice (Ekambi, 11′ and Alfonso, 15′). A complicated start to the match, which pushed Celta a little further into the red zone. But that was without counting on the fighting-spirit of the locals. Put on the right path by Aspas (50′) who reduced Villareal’s lead, it was then Gomez (71′) who set the record straight. Before seeing Aspas, again, convert a penalty at the end of the match (88 ‘) which sinks the yellow submarine a little more. In the standings, Celta Vigo therefore returns to a small point behind their evening opponent. From now on, the two teams should engage in a real match from a distance until the end of the championship.
Deportivo Alavés – Atlético Madrid: 4-0
Failing to be flamboyant, the Colchoneros were cruelly realistic. By folding the game in just over ten minutes, thanks to Saul Niguez (5th) and Diego Costa (11th), the men of Cholo Simeone then turned their backs against the Basque assaults before Morata increased the mark to the hour of play (59th) and that Thomas Partey does not send his traditional praline into the skylight of Fernando Pacheco (84th).
Eibar still misses an opportunity to integrate the first part of the table and return to Real Betis. Quickly led after the opener by José Luis Morales, on receiving a deep cross (1-0, 5th), Mendilibar’s men will soon equalize thanks to a half-volley from Gonzalo Escalantes after a mess in the surface of the Granotas (1-1, 19th). The latter will not take long to regain the advantage of a magnificent flat footed shot from Ruben Rochina at 20m (2-1, 26th). Dominating but clumsy, the Armeros will snatch the point of the draw in the last quarter of an hour through Sergi Enrich (2-2, 78th) with a strong strike to the right of the six-meter zone.
Rayo Vallecano – Betis Sevilla: 1-1
The slump continues for Real Betis. On the move on the lawn of Rayo Vallecano, Los Verdiblancos never really managed to destabilize the block of the penultimate of La Liga during their long phases of possession after the opener of Raùl de Tomas for the Franjirrojos (34th) , only finding the fault in the 81st minute through Christian Tello.

Sevilla FC – Valencia: 0-1
It was an expected duel between two teams fighting for European places. And still on a good dynamic, Valencia struck a blow by winning away from home. A Parejo goal before the break gave the Valencians the lead.

Valladolid-Real Sociedad: 1-1
No victory for Real Valladolid who had nevertheless opened the scoring at the start of the game, thanks to Keko (9′). But Oyarzabal made sure at the end of the match (79′) to put the teams back to back, until the end of regulation time. Valladolid still remains a few points from the relegation zone.

Real Madrid-Huesca: 3-2
Zinédine Zidane surprised everyone by starting his son, Luca Zidane, in goal for Merengue. A choice that did not pay off right away, the people of Madrid conceding a goal in the 3rd minute through Cucho. Isco, however, set the record straight in the 25th minute, before seeing Ceballos score the 2-1 goal in the 62nd. But Huesca didn’t let go, and even came back to score in the 74th through Etxeita. But at the very end of the match, it was another Frenchman who stood out: in the 89th minute, Karim Benzema gave his side a definitive advantage. With this victory, Real Madrid are two points behind Atlético. Huesca for its part is still 20th and last in the championship.
